Ravi is a LOVE!! He was a stray-cat street boy saved by a good samaritan. Initially, when he came to the shelter he was so scared and beat up. He had terrible ear mites that were so bad that he had huge scabs behind both ears from constantly scratching. We thought it would take a lot of work and socializing to get him to come around. We were WRONG!! Ravi is such a lover! He comes running to be petted and is lots of fun! His ears are clean & clear now, and the hair is slowly beginning to grow back where the nasty scabs were.
He is so sweet and definitely a volunteer favorite! Ravi is approximately two years old and gets along with other cats. These pictures do not do him justice. In person, he looks like a Care Bear! Ravi has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is similar to HIV in humans. These animals can and do live long prosperous lives when kept indoors. The primary mode of transmission is through aggressive bite wounds. Casual, non-aggressive contact is not an efficient route of spreading FIV; as a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk, less then 1%, for acquiring FIV from one another.
